Discussion question: Should directors have full creative control over their films or as in the case of Brazil, should the movie studios who produce the film have the final say in what is seen by audiences?
I think that directors should have the most creative control when it comes to the creation/editing of films, like in the case of Brazil. After all, they were the ones originally asked to create the film in the first place. Directors should have full creative control with the creation of the film, and if the producers watch the final product and dislike it, like in Brazil, I think that they should be allowed to work alongisde the director to suggest their changes. But, the director shoud have the decision whether to follow through with their changes, or choose instead to stick with his original ideas. The director would know what technical changes to make in order to benefit the film as a whole, and the producers would have the best knowledge of of business types of things, like what changes would most likely do better with audiences and turn in more profit. If one person takes more say than the other, changes will be made fully in their favor, causing too much pressence of their ideas, and most likely yielding a poor result.
