The controversy over modern movies being filmed with digital techniques versus the traditional, photo chemical way has become a highly debated topic over recent years. I think that it should be decided by the movie creator whether to pick digital or photo chemical. The photo chemical way of filming takes longer and costs more, however the amount of time and effort make the final product all the more remarkable and memorable. With the introduction of digital movie making, more options for creativity were created. “It’s magic now. It’s just, whatever you can think of, you can do, and that’s the whole idea" says George Lucas, a popular film producer and screen writer. With digital computing, movie makers are now able to create their own image of what the scene should look like, down to the exact set color and appearance. This is superior to anything that could be done with film, but at the same time it loses a sort of skill that was required when creating a film scene. I think digital is superior to photo chemical, however, photo chemical should not be completely forgotten. With the option of choosing digital or photo chemical, digital filming can be improved and photo chemical can continued to be used.
