Nonconformity in society and the consequences of carrying a burden is an important theme found in Palonski's short film, Two Men and a Wardrobe. Two examples of scenes that display this theme are when the group of guys throw the rocks at the cat to kill it/beat up the two men and when the men are kicked out of various businesses because of their large wardrobe. The scenes with the rougue boys shows a group of young men entertaining themselves by throwing rocks at a nearby stray cat. Showing no sense of restraint, they kill the cat and procede to throw it around like animals. The trivial, caveman like way of keeping themselves entertained shows their lack of humanity and compassion. The young men try to scare a young woman waiting for her bus with the dead cat, but are seen through a reflection in the wardrobe that the two men who happen to be walking by are carrying. The men, frustrated at the two odd men, begin to beat up the wardrobe carriers, getting a good laugh at their strange behavior. The men carrying the wardrobe and the young men with the dead cat, both represent nonconformity in society with the ways they dissobey rules and act according to their own motives. The consequences of carrying a burden can be seen when the men are beaten, but can also be seen when the man are kicked out of the restaraunt and motel. Because they are carrying such an odd burden, (a wardrobe) they are not allowed in the restaraunt therefore are forced to eat a gross looking fish for lunch.
